Cozi is a family calendar app on everyone's phone. Skylight is a touchscreen calendar for the wall or the kitchen bench. Choose Cozi if everyone has a phone and you want to spend little. Choose Skylight if you want the week on show where the kids can see it.
For a couple, there's a free option too. A shared calendar from Google or Apple plus Lyven covers the calendar, the shared lists and meals. Lyven also does the part neither one does: one owner for each household job.
Prices as of 22 October 2026.
Cozi is a shared family calendar app. Everyone gets the calendar plus shopping and to do lists on their phone or computer. The free version carries ads and locks some basics, like the month view on your phone, search, and telling the family about a new event. Cozi Gold unlocks them for A$59 a year in Australia or US$39 in the US.
Skylight is a screen first. The 15 inch Skylight Calendar costs A$529 from Skylight's Australian store, and there's a bigger 27 inch Calendar Max. It syncs the calendars you already use, including Google, Outlook, Apple and Cozi. A chore checklist for the kids, shared lists and the phone app come free. Calendar Plus costs A$124.99 a year. It adds meal planning, a photo screensaver and star rewards for kids, and turns emails and PDFs into events.
The real choice is where the calendar lives. Cozi sits in everyone's pocket, so it works when everyone who needs it has a phone. Skylight puts the week on a screen in a room everyone walks past. That suits younger kids without phones, and families who liked having a calendar on the fridge.
You pay differently too. Cozi is free to start, and A$59 a year buys Gold. Skylight starts with a A$529 screen, and Calendar Plus adds A$124.99 a year if you want its extras.
They also work together. Skylight lists Cozi among the calendars it syncs, so you can keep adding events in Cozi and see them on a Skylight screen.

A shared calendar with shopping and to do lists, on every phone in the family.
A touchscreen that shows the family's week in one room, with chores and lists on the same screen.
A household app for couples. Each job has one owner, and your shopping list and meal plan sit in the same app.
Cozi and Skylight both show your family the plan. Neither changes who makes it. Someone still reads the school email, books the appointment and enters it. So the question for any tool is whether it moves the noticing, or only the reminding.
Lyven is a household app for couples that splits the home fairly: single owner per job, no scoreboard. Each job, like the school forms or the dentist, has one owner who notices it, plans it and does it. Your shopping list and meal plan sit in the same app.
Use the free shared calendar from Google or Apple for the dates, and Lyven for who handles what. Both are free. Lyven is on the App Store, Google Play and the web.
It depends where you want the calendar. Cozi is an app for everyone's phone, free to start and A$59 a year for Gold. Skylight is a touchscreen for the wall or bench, from A$529, and suits families with younger kids who don't have phones. Skylight can show your Cozi calendar, so you can use both.
