For most couples, no. Cozi Gold costs A$59 a year in Australia and US$39 in the US. Most of what it adds already comes free in the shared calendar on your phone, from Google or Apple. Add Lyven for the shopping list, meals and who does what, and you've covered the rest without paying.
Prices as of 22 October 2026.
Lyven is a household app for couples that splits the home fairly: single owner per job, no scoreboard. Here's what you both get, free:
Lyven isn't a calendar. Use the free one on your phone for the dates, and Lyven for everything else. It's free on the App Store, Google Play and the web.
Free Cozi has a shared calendar and lists, with ads. Here's what Gold adds, and where you already get each part for nothing.
| What Gold adds | Where it comes free |
|---|---|
| No ads | Google Calendar and Apple's Calendar app don't show ads. |
| The month view on your phone | Both free calendars show the whole month. |
| Search for an event | Both free calendars search your events. |
| More than one reminder per event | Both let you set more than one. |
| A heads-up when someone adds or changes an event | Apple's Calendar alerts you on your phone. Google Calendar can email you. |
| A birthday tracker | Both show birthdays from your contacts. |
| Planning more than 30 days ahead | Both go as far ahead as you like. |
| Filtering the calendar by person | Give each person their own coloured calendar and turn them on or off. |
| Shopping mode, which moves ticked items out of the way | Lyven's shopping list stays in sync on both your phones, and planned meals add their ingredients to it. |

|---|---|---|---|
| Free Cozi | Free | Free | Shared calendar, to do and shopping lists, with ads |
| Cozi Gold | A$59 a year | US$39 a year | No ads, plus everything in the table above |
| Cozi Max | A$129.99 a year | US$79.99 a year | Gold, plus an AI assistant that turns emails into calendar events, plans meals and suggests recipes |
A$59 a year works out at about A$4.92 a month. One subscription covers everyone on the account, up to 12 people. Start Gold on Cozi's website and you get two weeks free before you're charged. If you cancel, Gold runs to the end of the term you paid for. Then the account goes back to free Cozi, with your calendar and lists kept.
If your family already keeps everything in Cozi and nobody wants to move it, Gold takes the ads away and adds the extras above. If you're starting fresh, a free shared calendar and Lyven do the same job.

Yes. Start Gold from Cozi's website and you get two weeks free before you're charged.
You keep Gold until the end of the term you paid for. Then the account goes back to free Cozi, with your calendar and lists kept.
Only if you'd use its AI assistant most weeks. Max can turn your emails into calendar events, plan meals and suggest recipes. It costs more than twice as much as Gold.
Not really. Each person signs in with their own email, but everyone shares one password and sees everything. That's the same on free Cozi and on Gold. In Lyven, each partner has their own sign-in.
Yes. The free shared calendar from Google or Apple covers most of what Gold adds, with no ads. Lyven is free too. It handles the shopping list, meals and who owns each job at home, and tells your partner when you hand them something.
